Active Southland was first established in 1990 and is part of a network of regional sports trusts who support play, active recreation and sport around Aotearoa.
Our team believes being active is really important for individuals, whaanau and the community, but we also know that it’s not always as easy as it should be – so we are here to help.
Young people, tamariki and rangatahi, can be at risk of missing out on being active if they are not being supported in the right way or their needs aren’t being met. Some communities are more at risk of being inactive due a range of factors.
We believe all Southlanders should be able to enjoy all the benefits of being active so they can live their best lives.
Active Southland is continually developing a better understanding of what the community needs to be more active. We work alongside the community and everyone from parents and teachers to councils, funders and providers to develop awesome opportunities for both those who are already active and those who want to become more active.
